Mr. Ron Caldecott
Introduction
The caption above a fading photograph reads "Meticulous attention to detail in E.L. man's model".
This photograph of a young Ron Caldecott appeared in a Eastern Cape newspaper dated 23 January 1959.
The caption below reads "Meticulous detail accounts for the realism attained by Mr. Ron Caldecott in his model railway layout
a section of which is reproduced above"
After 50 years this is still relevant...
Ron runs an operating HO South African layout based on the Buffalo Harbour-East London-Queenstown
mainline with branches from Blaney to Umtata and Kings Williamstown. Ron also has gone digital (DCC - Digitrax) since we were last here in 2005.
Ron and the Friday Night Operating Group normally operate the layout on a Friday night using a card sytem and a fast clock.

One of the FNOG members painted this backdrop for Ron
you can hear the leaves rustle in the wind and fading sun ...
