Tshwabac Model Railway Club - since 1949

Mess
British Military Mess - Anglo Boer War 1898
Home of Tshwabac - Souter Street Pretoria

Introduction
The Club was formed in 1949 as the Northern Transvaal Model Club and is situated in Souter Street in Pretoria-West inside the Pretoria Show Grounds. The building was a British Military Mess during the Anglo Boer War and later a storage for hay for the horses that pulled the trams around Pretoria. The layout is most probably the oldest and largest permanent layout in South Africa. The trains consists of "O" gauge on one side of the hall and on the opposite of the passage is "HO" gauge layout. The "HO" layout has a double main line of around 110 meters in length, with branch lines and sidings to various industries, mines and a future harbour. The line is analog on one track and the other a Roco digital control track, kindly sponsored last year by our late member, Brian Watson. (Click here for a page in Memory of Brian).
