Introduction
Martin runs a SAR Layout with his own scratchbuilt SAR Steam locos, namely the 23, the 15CA, the 16D
and the 16E. Martin mainly uses brass for most of the locomotive and sometimes
Marklin driving gears on some of the locos. His OO (1:76 or 4mm / Ft) scale locomotives are true replicas
of the original locomotives based on original SAR Drawings and photographs to ensure correctness.
Martin's attention to detail is exemplary.
Martin is recognised and admired by everyone in the SAG as a master craftsman
willing to share his passion with everyone.
An aricle appeared in SA Rail (July - August 1993, Vol.33 No.4, p.134) where Martin described building his locomotives.
